Three people involved in a triangular-affair yesterday ended up in court to answer charges of assault causing actual bodily harm. Dave Allen, 42, of 14 Nimrod Street, Two Friends Village, and Roshelle Allen, 30, of 396 Victoria Village, both on the East Coast Demerara, appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson.
Roshelle, the wife of Dave Allen, pleaded not guilty to charges which stated that on February 4, she twice unlawfully assaulted Odessa Williams so as to cause her actual bodily harm.
Dave also pleaded not guilty to the charge, which stated that on the same day he unlawfully assaulted his wife Roshelle Allen. He said he only prevented his wife from hitting Williams. He told the court that his wife removed from their martial home and the relationship has ended between them.
Assistant Superintendent Denise Griffith, prosecuting, said according to her facts, Mr. Allen and Williams have an intimate relationship. She said on the day in question Mrs. Allen was travelling in her husband’s minibus when he picked up the virtual complainant and the women had a confrontation.
Griffith said Mr. Allen gave a statement to the police stating that it is the virtual complainant who started the problems between himself and wife.
The virtual complainant said after the bus stopped for her, the defendant attacked her. She said the defendant continued her attack on her and cuffed her on her face while she was inside the bus.
Roshelle was released on self-bail and Dave was put on $15,000 bail.
The magistrate ordered a probation report into the matter and transferred the case to another court for March 3.
