ERC to conclude Neighbourhood Conference Project in Region Six

– approximately 500 persons participated in 10 meetings, five more to be held
The Ethnic Relations Commission (ERC) will this weekend conclude its Neighbourhood Conference Project in Corriverton, Region Six, with the hosting of five meetings, including one Municipal Conference, in the ancient county.
These meetings will bring the total to 71 under the Project which is being supported by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
The Corriverton Municipal Conference is scheduled for Thursday, February 11, 2010, at 10:00am at the Corriverton Civic Centre and is expected to be well attended by members from all strata of society.

The Conference will be addressed by Chairman of the ERC, Bishop Juan Edghill, regional Chairman, Region Six, Zulfikar Mustapha, and a representative from the UNDP.
The Commission’s Neighbourhood Conference Project commenced on July 27, 2009, and has so far seen more than 3,000 Guyanese being equipped with Dispute Resolution and Negotiation Skills gained through 66 Neighbourhood Conferences held in all ten administrative regions.
During these meetings, the issues raised by residents were recorded by the Commission. These issues and recommendations will be compiled into a report and submitted to the relevant stakeholders at the end of the project.
