DESMOND Rigby, 27, of Lot 63 Middle Street, Mc Doom, East Bank Demerara, was yesterday fined $10,000 with the alternative of six months imprisonment for threatening Stabroek News photographer Jules Gibson.

The defendant pleaded guilty, before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson, admitting that, on January 5, he made use of threatening language to Gibson, occasioning a breach of the peace.

Rigby was descending the stairs of the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court when Gibson took his picture and he does not like being photographed.

Police Inspector Stephen Telford, prosecuting, said Rigby is a remanded prisoner and the latter said he spat on Gibson.
