After alleged threat, husband to face wounding charge

– Police
A THIRTY-YEAR-OLD fisherman wounded his wife while threatening to kill her, after a misunderstanding between them, Magistrate Adela Nagamootoo heard on Tuesday.

The incident was related when Stephen Henry, of Kilcoy, Corentyne, appeared in New Amsterdam Court, also in Berbice.

But the defendant denied that he had threatened Pulmattie Mangar, at their home on January 20 and was ordered to post $5,000 bail until February 3.

Defence Counsel Kumar Doraisami pointed out that a charge of wounding is not before the Court, neither is there any medical certificate to support such an allegation.

However, Police Inspector Satrohan Dayaram, prosecuting, informed that the injury to the virtual complainant was medically certified by documentation and prosecution for it will follow shortly.

Henry will make his next appearance at Albion Court, Corentyne, to which his cased has been transferred.
