Foreign Affairs offers help to find Guyanese there

After earthquake in Haiti…
THE Guyana Ministry of Foreign Affairs has advised that persons desirous of obtaining information on relatives in Haiti can do so by contacting Mrs. Elisabeth Harper or Ms. Keishanna Sullivan at the Office of the Director General.

The contact telephone numbers for those two are 225-7404 and 226-2632 and for Mr. Esther Griffith or Ms. Rovina Deodat, at the Protocol and Consular Affairs Department, is 226-9070.

The Ministry said it has received one appeal for help in locating family members of a Guyanese family since the earthquake struck the island on January 12 but is not in a position to say how many Guyanese nationals in Haiti have been affected by the disaster.

Meanwhile, a Guyanese businessman, Mr. Donald Richards, who hails from Lima on Essequibo Coast is reported to be among those missing.

Richards was, reportedly, in Haiti with his son, Peabo, who is alive but is worried about his father, whom he has not been able to locate so far.

Mrs. Richards, who is at her Essequibo home, is anxiously awaiting the arrival of her son, to glean any information about her husband.
