The civilian yesterday morning confronted two men armed with a firearm and a cutlass who had robbed a female employee of the Caribbean Diamond Drilling Company at D’Urban Backlands, Georgetown.

Risking his life, he managed to arrest one of the men and recover the unlicensed .38 revolver with five live matching rounds.

The Police reported that at about 09:45 hours at the Carib Diamond Drilling Company, a female secretary was attacked and robbed by two men armed with a handgun and a cutlass.

The secretary, Lonetta Harry, was in the office when the men entered, held her at gunpoint, took away her personal jewellery and a laptop computer, and left the building.

As the men were escaping, the victim raised an alarm, and Victor Wilson, a manager of the company who was on his way to work, confronted the two men and a scuffle ensued.

Wilson held on to the man with the firearm while the other dropped the lap top computer and escaped with the jewellery. The robber with the firearm attempted to fire at Wilson; but the gun did not go off. Public spirited persons went to Wilson’s assistance, and the man, along with the unlicensed .38 revolver with five live rounds, was handed over to the police.
