Call for removal of Cuba and Nigeria from ‘fraudulent list’ of alleged terrorist countries

The latest attempt by the United States Government to infringe on the rights and security of the peoples and Government of Cuba and Nigeria is contemptible. The Clement Payne Movement condemns the high-handed and bullying behaviour of the United States Government as exhibited in their recent imposition of further restrictions on the people and Government of Cuba.

The blockade against Cuba is now over 50 years. There are no direct flights by any United States organised airlines between Cuba and the United States. In addition, there is no evidence that the people and Government of Cuba have ever committed any act of terrorism against the United States of America or indeed, against any other country.

This act by the American Government to put Cuba on a terrorist list is therefore unprincipled and reprehensible.

We call upon the Caribbean states, CARICOM, CARIFORUM and the countries of the Bolivarian Alternative for Latin America (ALBA) and indeed all people of goodwill to condemn the actions of the United States.

The progressive Peoples of the Caribbean should communicate by fax and email to the members of the Congress of the United States and most importantly to the President of the United States, Barack Obama demanding the removal of Cuba and Nigeria from this fraudulent list of alleged terrorist countries.

The Clement Payne Movement demands that the Government of the United States of America stop stigmatising the progressive country of Cuba.
