An East Bank Demerara businessman was shot during an attempted robbery yesterday afternoon outside German’s Restaurant.
Terrence Parahoo, 43, of 1576 Diamond Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara, was attacked as he exited the German’s Restaurant at New Market and Mundy Streets, Georgetown.
Reports said that at about 13:00 hours yesterday Parahoo and a friend had just finished conducting business at a city bank and went to get something to eat when the robbers pounced on them.
It is believed that the businessman and his friend were being followed by the bandits who tried to snatch a bag containing cash.
He managed to hold on to the bag and was shot in the left thigh.
The bandits quickly fled the scene empty-handed in a gold coloured AT 192 motorcar.
Parahoo was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) where he was treated.
