THE POLICE are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Brazilian national, Marcus Paul Da Silva, 34, whose remains were found at about 07:30h Friday at Takutu, in the hinterland community of Lethem, with stab wounds.

Police say a trail of blood was observed leading from the scene of the crime to the Takutu Bridge at the Guyana side of the border with neighbouring Brazil.

Meanwhile, the police are also investigating reports that at about 06:30h on Christmas Eve Day (Thursday, December 24), armed men attacked a mining camp at the Waini Backdam.

Policemen have been dispatched to the area. No other information is available at this time.
