ANSA McAl accords ‘Christmas Day’ babies traditional welcome

ANSA McAL Trading, in keeping with a time-honoured tradition it has upheld for the past 11 years, on Friday favoured each of those mothers who gave birth on Christmas Day at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation with a ‘Cheekies Bundle of Joy’ hamper.

This year’s hamper, Brands Manager, Mr Marco Kreuter said comprised mainly of the Cheekies brand of diapers.

Kreuter, who expressed pleasure at being able to help new mothers, said that ANSA McAL will continue this venture in 2010 and beyond.

Over the years, hospitals visited have included the GPHC, Woodlands, Mercy, and Medical Arts.

Kreuter said that last year saw a total of 10 mothers from those hospitals at reference receiving ‘Cheekies Bundle of Joy’ hampers. But try as the Chronicle might, it could not ascertain how many mothers gave birth on Christmas Day this year at the GPHC, let alone the other institutions, as staffers there were very wary about divulging such information.

Through our Chief Photographer, Cullen Bess-Nelson, however, we were able to learn that the first three babies were born to Jewel Bacchus, 24, of East Ruimveldt, who gave birth to a boy at 01:30h; Subrina Antonio, 23, of Bel Air, East Coast Demerara, who gave birth to a bouncing baby girl at 02:00h; and Shondell Schulz, 28, of Bent Street, Wortmanville, who gave birth 15 minutes later to a baby girl as well.

Nelson said that as far as he knew, there were six to seven babies born at the GPHC up to 10:00h on Christmas Day.

ANSA McAL says it will also be showing its appreciation to the management and staff of all public and private hospitals which have supported their initiative over the years by presenting them with gifts.
