I refer to Mr. Ehiaimiuwu’s letter. “How Obama could stop unemployment among the poor” (GC11/12). Mr. Ehiaimiuwu is a West African settled in the USA and is deeply concerned with the plight of African Americans.
In his letter he mentioned the negative stereotyping of Black people in the USA and their dependency on some kinds of state hand-outs to improve their economic condition.
I would recommend Mr. Ehiaimiuwu to carefully study Professor Accabre Nkofi’s booklet: “The Rebirth of the Blackman” which deals with many of the same syndromes facing Black people in Guyana and which are similar to the USA. Professor Nkofi’s book is very concise, very compact and has several insights in the same paragraph and therefore has to be read and re-read. “The Rebirth of the Blackman” has many of the solutions for which Black Americans are seeking.
The book has gone scarce in Guyana but it can be obtained at the local libraries and the libraries of the University of the West Indies. I understand the book is on the internet but I hope the book is in its complete entirety as any editing would diminish or even distort Professor Nkofi’s message.
