Court told…

Two women lured man into robbery trap
TWO women, aged 19 and 20, lured a man into a robbery trap, Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson was told last week Thursday.

Police Inspector Stephen Telford have the narrative when Tamara Alexander also known as Tressa Johnson, 19 and 20-year-old Allison Nedd made their second Court appearance.

They are jointly charged with Esmond Baptiste, 26, of Lot 4145 North Ruimveldt; Sherwin Clarke, 17, of Land of Canaan, East Bank Demerara; Junior Dover, 26, of Mahdia, Potaro; and Jermaine Burnett, 26, of Lot 74 La Bonne Intention, East Coast Demerara.

Particulars of the offence said Alexander, of Lot 181 Prospect, East Bank Demerara and Nedd, of Lot 33 Campbellville Housing Scheme, Georgetown, last November 27, at Regent and King Streets, in the city, robbed Dexter Daly of a gold ring, a cellular phone and cash, making a total loss, to him, of $38,000 and at the time or immediately before or after, used personal violence.

The Prosecutor said Nedd and Alexander were used to get the victim under control after which the men turned up on the scene.

However, Daly’s belongings were recovered from a room in which all the defendants, who pleaded not guilty, were present.

Clarke, Baptiste, Nedd and Johnson were put on $60,000 bail each while Dover and Burnett were remanded to prison.

But those granted pre-trial freedom complained that they could not afford the surety.

Clarke said he is a current student of the Government Technical Institute (GTI) and recently completed a three-year jail sentence for simple larceny.

Burnett said he knew nothing about the allegation but was arrested when he went to a High Street, Georgetown hotel for a sexual purpose.

Baptiste said he shares a common law relationship with Nedd, who said she had gone to White Castle Fish Shop with the other defendants and, when they left there, Dover lashed Daly with a piece of wood and robbed him.

Daly confirmed what Nedd related and said Dover and Burnett are the ones who actually robbed him.

The case will be called again on December 29, until when all the defendants are to remain incarcerated.
