SIXTEEN-YEAR-OLD Jonathan Soodoo was yesterday placed on a bond to keep the peace for two years, on being convicted of larceny, by Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson.
The probationer, of Lot 26 Hill Street, Albouystown, pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which said, on December 1, along Saffon Street, Charlestown, also in Georgetown, he stole one cellular phone with sim cards, valued $40,000 in all, from Ewart Thomas.
Police Sergeant Krishnadat Ramana, prosecuting, said Thomas was speaking on the phone while walking on the Saffon Street pavement when Soodoo snatched it and the other property and escaped.
But the thief was positively identified by the virtual complainant, who made restitution in Court, causing the Thomas to offer no further evidence against him.
