THE issue on Monday, November 30, 2009, of the Stabroek News left one wondering whether the editor was caught napping. Just imagine as important as the Summit of the Commonwealth Heads of Government, which concluded its three-day meeting on the day previously.
There appeared to be a shut-out of any news on the much-publicised and highly-focused internationally-attracted meeting.
This is clearly a severe lapse demonstrating the total lack of respect the SN holds for its leadership. In fact, Aunt Hetta called from Toronto to say that she considered it a catastrophe and shows a blatant disregard for the intelligence of the reading public in the entire society.
Continuing, Hetta said it was a callous disrespect for the public in depriving the readership of knowing the development or progress of what took place at the CHOGM event in Trinidad & Tobago on the day of closure.
Mabel concluded that there was somewhat of a negative item originating in Port-of-Spain by Reuters on page 4 World News, but certainly the main thrust and focus which from all accounts dominated the discussions was that of climate change and the approach of the United Nations meeting scheduled for next week in Copenhagen, Denmark. The people wanted to know and on this aspect, the SN failed the readership.
Mabel is of a suspicious mind and wonders loudly whether the fact that the question of President Jagdeo’s highly successful campaigning on behalf of his LCDS and which will he carried into the Copenhagen meeting was responsible for the lapse of Stabroek News.

Energetic and young with a brilliant mind is what contributes to the successes of President Jagdeo’s varied significant initiatives in his more recent hectic visits abroad. Just think of it for a moment.

Simply intimidating for anyone who harbours thoughts of replacing this President.

Success and worthy acclaim can produce misplaced envy and in Guyana it is obvious that this transposes amongst all would-be aspirants to the presidency. At the recent CHOGM, according to a whisper, it seems that some of the President’s CARICOM peers are experiencing this related envy.
