A DRINKING binge between two men ended up in a fight, causing one of them to be charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm.
The defendant, Leroy Evans, 36, of Kuru Kururu Squatting Area, along Soesdyke/Linden Highway appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson yesterday and was remanded to prison.
He pleaded not guilty to having, on November 27, at Sand Pit, Kuru Kururu, with intent to maim, disfigure or disable, caused grievous bodily harm to Neil Jupiter.
Police Inspector Stephen Telford, prosecuting, said Jupiter was about to enter Evans’ yard without permission and refused to leave when asked.
The Prosecutor said a heated argument ensued that resulted in the men fighting.
Attorney-at-law Mr. Paul Fung-A-Fat, for Evans, said, as a result of the incident, the latter spent five days in the lock-ups at Providence, East Bank Demerara and has already suffered punishment.
Evans will make his next appearance today, at Providence Court, to where his case has been transferred.
