Princes Street shooting
Dexter McDonald, 33, of 67 Bent Street, Werk-en-Rust, Georgetown, is responding to treatment and is conscious following surgery to remove a bullet from in his stomach.
McDonald is a patient in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) following a shooting incident at Princes Street, Wortmanville, on Sunday night.
The plumber was shot and injured during a robbery when he left his home to visit his girlfriend in Princes Street.
He was in the vicinity when his girlfriend and her niece were approached by two men on a motorcycle.
The men grabbed a gold chain off the young woman and when McDonald saw what was happening he went to their assistance and the bandits discharged two gunshots, one of which struck him in the abdomen.
The robbers escaped on the motorcycle before the police arrived.
McDonald collapsed and was picked up by the police and taken to the GPH.
