… pledges a motor car for next year’s MVP
AUTO Fashion on Monday donated the second place trophy and medals to the organisers of the Annual Kashif and Shanghai Football Tournament and pledged a motor car for the Most Valuable Player of next year’s tournament.
Addressing members of the media at the simple presentation ceremony on Monday, the company’s manager Rajesh Singh said this is the seventh year that they are donating the second place trophy and medals for the tournament and they are on board for the seventh consecutive year because they are pleased with the way the tournament is conducted.
“Apart from that, we at Auto Fashion get a lot back from our sponsorship, so we are pleased to be associated with it,” Singh stated, adding, “there is a surprise for next year, the Most Valuable Player will drive off with a brand new motor car.”
The company’s Managing Director and motor racer Noel `Rupie’ Shewjattan in brief remarks stated that he is simply giving back to society by contributing to the successful staging of the annual event which kicks off on December 13 at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence.
According to the organisers, the opening ceremony will be attended by Brazil’s legendary footballer `King Pele’.
Shewjattan informed that his business place which is currently situated at the Guyoil Service Station on Regent Street will be relocated to Seaforth and Campbell Streets, Campbellville in another few weeks.
Co-director of the Kashif and Shanghai organisation Kashif Muhammad thanked Auto Fashion for its continued support and noted that the motor car that the company has pledged for the MVP of next year’s tournament will be a big boost to the tournament.
He said Shewjattan has been on board for quite a while and he (Shewjattan) is a very excited football fan. “So we welcome the pledge of a vehicle for next year’s tournament and it shows that football in Guyana is moving from strength to strength.”
Over $2.2M dollars in cash prizes as well as trophies and individual prizes will be up for grabs in this the 20th edition of the tournament.
