Prisoner stole from reputed wife, sister

RAWLE Wallace, 37, of Lot 705 East Ruimveldt, Georgetown, who stole from his reputed wife and sister, was yesterday sentenced to two years imprisonment.

He pleaded guilty to two charges before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson.

Particulars of one offence said the convict, between November 10 and 24, stole a quantity of household articles valued $20,000, belonging to his sister, Colleen Cross.

In the other case, between November 18 and 19, he broke and entered the dwelling house of his reputed wife, Angela Motiram, from where he stole one clothes iron, a cellular phone and other property worth $34,000.

Wallace told the court that Cross is his sister that Motiram is his reputed wife.

Motiram told the court that Wallace was previously placed on a bond for a similar offence some three years ago.

She said she offered to help him get rehabilitation because of his drug smoking habit but he refused.

He received the jail term for the breaking and entering offence and was put on probation for the theft.

Police Inspector Stephen Telford, prosecuting, said Wallace took the Police to an abandoned house where he kept the booty.
