Bolt says `no’ again to 400

MONACO, Monte-Carlo (CMC) – Usain Bolt has again ruled out the possibility of tackling the 400 metres in the near future.

Bolt is the World record holder over 100 and 200 metres, and was named World Male Athlete-of-the-Year on Sunday by the International Association of Athletic Federations, the sport’s World governing body.

“I don’t want to do it,” said Bolt during the World Athletics Gala ceremony.

“I guess if you gather the willpower of everybody, I would do it. It’s hard work, it’s harder training and it’s just too hard.”

Bolt’s coach Glenn Mills has threatened to make him step up to the quarter-mile in a bid to get him to train seriously, but the Jamaica megastar sprinter was adamant he would stick to the shorter distances for the time being.

“It’s hard to run (World) record times, but the training that would allow me to do it is not as hard as what it will take for me to run the 400.”

Bolt is now in training to prepare for the inaugural IAAF Diamond League of track meets next year.
