THE Guyana Police Force’s Office of Professional Responsibility is investigating the alleged carnal knowledge committed on a female juvenile on October 21, 2009, by a member of a Community Policing Group while she was in custody at the Springlands Police Station.
Police said the juvenile was arrested and placed in custody for wandering. She later alleged that on October 21, 2009, while on a bench in the Enquiries Office at the Station, she was induced by two Police Constables, one after the other, who tried to entice her into having sex. She claimed that the inducements occurred at the Traffic Office and the Domestic Violence Office at the station. However, she managed to get free and returned to the Enquiries Office. She further alleged that later that night, she was approached by a male juvenile who had allegedly gone to the Station to patrol with the Community Policing Group who then enticed her into the Witness Room where he had sex with her against her will.
Police said the female juvenile never reported these matters to anyone until she was subsequently arrested on November 23, 2009, again for wandering, and appeared at the Springlands Magistrate Court on November 24, 2009, when she complained to the Magistrate.
The two Constables and the Community Policing Group member have since been arrested and are in custody pending further investigations.
