DAVID Leander alias ‘Biscuit’, the murder accused who took sick at the Georgetown Jail, last week Thursday, remained in a coma at Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) yesterday.
He has been under Police guard since being rushed to the institution and, although his condition appeared to improve earlier this week, he has been unconscious from Tuesday.
His relatives said the 29-year-old man, of Buxton, who is charged with the unlawful killing of former Agriculture Minister Satyadeow ‘Sash’ Sawh, his siblings and security guard, at La Bonne Intention (LBI), is not responding to treatment.
Leander was being treated for vomiting but suffered some complications and a diagnosis of his ailment is yet to be made.
The Male Medical Ward patient was to appear at Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court, also on East Coast Demerara, last week Friday for the continuation of the preliminary inquiry (PI) into the charge but could not attend and the proceedings were adjourned to today.
But he is unlikely to be present for the resumption.
The prisoner is jointly charged with others for the capital offence but some of his co-accused and other suspects in the case are now dead, including in fatal shootouts with Police.
Others killed on April 22, 2006, in the LBI massacre at Minister Sawh’s house, were his brother, Rajpat Sawh, sister, Pulmattie Persaud and security guard Curtis Robertson.
