BANDITS robbed Cosmopolitan Trading Company, at Lot 22-23 Lombard and Leopold Streets, of $300,000 on Wednesday.
A proprietor of the spare parts dealership, Nadeen Rahaman told the Guyana Chronicle it happened about 19:30 h, after the business was closed for the day and his brother, Raza Rahaman, their father, Jameel Rahaman and three employees were outside the building.
The duo, one with a gun, confronted the Rahamans and their staff in the ‘stick up’ and ordered them to lie on the ground.
Raza Rahaman was compelled to hand over the day’s takings which he had in his nearby parked vehicle.
The robbers also chucked Jameel Rahaman and a security guard, who attempted to render assistance, was struck blows on his head and body with the gun.
The beaten man was conveyed to seek medial attention by Police who responded at the scene.
Nadeen Rahaman said the robbers arrived on foot and fled the same way along High Street, also in Georgetown.
The victims believe their daily routine had been observed prior to the robbery and they are now looking to implement appropriate security measures. (Michel Outridge)
