THERE will be times when our sports ambassadors suffer mixed fortunes during their respective participation at overseas meetings and we must continue to give our full pledge support at all times. The mere fact that Guyana is been represented means a lot and we should always continue to be very optimistic that our moment to shine at the top meetings will someday become a reality.

I extend my gratitude to the two returning youth ambassadors from the just concluded 2009 World Youth Championship in Italy and hope that would be able to make adjustments to their techniques, speed, qualifying times and focus as they continue their journey in future competitions.

I couldn’t help, but noticed the photos of two other junior track and field athletes from the six member team in a recent Guyana Times daily who is heading for the 2009 Pan Am Games in Trinidad in a matter of days. I have seen them in action, very impressive and I often wish that Guyana had a high tech track facility. We have just got to make do with what’s available and try not to let it deter us from our point of direction.

As you make your final preparations before departure, leave with no fear or intimidation of the competition you are about to face off with.

Win or lose, make or leave a statement that Guyana will soon be one of the toughest arch nemeses on the track.
