ACTING Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson Wednesday remanded murder accused Shawn Xavier to prison until September 8.

The accused, 23, will make his next appearance at Lethem Court, Rupununi, still facing the charge that he unlawfully killed Markesan Felix between February 27 and June 10.

It is alleged that Xavier, of Maikwak, North Pakaraimas, took the schoolboy on a fishing trip and struck him a fatal blow on the head.

Police Inspector Denise Griffith, prosecuting, said Xavier then removed the boy’s clothes and buried him in a shallow grave, after the victim had called him a homosexual.
The Prosecutor said Xavier claimed no one in his home village likes him.
