Mon Repos masjid members take executive to court

SEVERAL long standing members of the Mon Repos Sunatul Jamaat have decided to file a motion in the High Court against their Imaam and the executive body because no audited financial statements have been presented to them for a number of years.

Mr. Mohamed Alli, one of the members, visited and told the Chronicle yesterday that the members of the Jamaat have been deprived of the financial records from 2002 to date.

Alli said the Imaam, as well as the executive body, keeps putting off the matter when the members raise questions, hence they decided to send him a lawyer’s letter.

He said the executive did not accept the letter which requested reasons for not distributing the statements.

Alli said the Body did not respond in the 15 days that the lawyer’s letter specified. So after waiting for ten weeks, the members decided to file the motion against the executive in the High Court.
He said the matter is fixed for August 17 in the High Court.
