Floodlight A&B make clean sweep

… donate $100 000 to Unity Sports Club

LAST Sunday at Unity Mahaica, the Floodlight teams were involved in two softball matches to raise funds for the Unity Sports Club and the venture was a success.

In the first match, Floodlight A took on Nauth Motor Spares who were bowled out for 97s off 21 overs.

Krishna Williams hit a top score of 27 runs for the host, with Derick Ramoutar taking 3 wickets for one run and Rahaman Khan and Rocky Deokie took two wickets apiece bowling for Floodlight A. Man-of-the-match Ramesh Sunich scored a robust 51 and was well supported by Bedi Ramjewan 25 with Floodlight A making light work of the total.

Naresh Dudnauth took 3 wickets for 15 runs and was the most successful bowler for Nauth Motor Spares.

In the second match Floodlight B raced to 244 for 8 off 25 overs with Mark Harold slamming 100 and was well supported by Rovendra Mandolall 27 and Abilash Deokie 20.

Jagdesh Persaud was the best bowler for the hosts with three for 24.

Unity Sports Club had a good start with an opening stand of 89 from Imran Hassan 59, Hemraj Garberan 32 but they were eventually all out for 194 in the 24th over. Rajin Mohammed was the chief destroyer with 5 wickets for 31 runs bowling for Floodlight.

Sponsorship for both matches was done by Surendra Nauth of Nauth Motor Spares of Unity Lancaster, Mahaica. The floodlight teams again proved to be good guests by donating $100 000 to Unity Sports Club.
