Time to reflect on national legacy

-Minister Webster at flag raising ceremony at Paradise
MINISTER within the Ministry of Finance Ms. Jennifer Webster on Monday urged that, as the Golden Arrowhead is hoisted to mark yet another year of independence, Guyanese should take time to reflect on the national legacy that they all enjoy.

A simple but meaningful flag raising ceremony held at the Region Four Regional Democratic Council (RDC) office Compound at Paradise, East Coast Demerara saw complete, patriotic participation from school children of various schools along the East Coast of Demerara.

Speaking at that ceremony, Minister Webster stated that Guyanese should safeguard and build from the rich diversity that bears the foundation of Guyanese culture and dedicate themselves towards the maintenance of the struggle that gained Guyana independence from Britain in 1966.

She noted that Guyana has come a long way as a nation and that the government remains committed in its oath and efforts to work steadfastly towards a brighter future for all Guyanese.

She also said Guyanese should celebrate with pride as they look back at the country’s history and achievements. Regional Chairman (Region 4) Mr. Clement Corlette spoke of the national symbols that ultimately led to the construction of the country’s national identity.

The Chairman said Guyanese should focus on what they have achieved since independence, take cognizance of their many blessings and see how they can contribute to further development.
