The Guyana Fire Service (GFS) managed to douse a house fire which is believed to have been electrical in nature at 276 Lamaha Street at about 17:28 h on Friday.

The family of four reported that several household articles were destroyed, but was thankful for the prompt response of the GFS fire tender.

In a separate incident, a car was destroyed by fire on Friday too, at National Avenue and Congress Drive, South Ruimveldt, Georgetown, when it caught fire.

The car burst into flames about 01:05 a.m. Saturday.

The occupants managed to escape unhurt.

The car is lodged with the police who are investigating with assistance from the GFS.
