EUREKA Medical Laboratory and Family Clinic, at Lot 263 Thomas Street, Georgetown, yesterday received its ‘Immulite 2002’ certificate, permitting it to do allergy and prostate testing. She said GNBS is currently monitoring and surveying all laboratories countrywide to ensure they fulfill all the requirements to be standardised. Semple said not all laboratories have received certification and encouraged them to implement all the guidelines, after which a visit by GNBS could lead to them being awarded certificates. She explained that, before the certificate is issued, employees manning the equipment must be qualified and trained to maintain the integrity of the testing. Boyle, upon receipt of the permission, said he is very pleased and honoured that Eureka was certified by GNBS, once again. He said Eureka has been in existence 14 years and operates three branches, including the one in the city and they are growing quite nicely. “We are also pleased with the responses of the recent opening of our New Amsterdam, Berbice branch and our aim is to take health care to another level, by providing quality services,” Boyle stated. He said, since the first certification in 1999, Eureka has managed to be re-certified and insists on the delivery of good health care. Also making remarks on the occasion was Eureka Medical Technologist/Quality Manager Ms. Shondelle Thomas.
Guyana National Bureau of Standards (GNBS) Technical Officer 1, Ms. Rodlyn Semple presented it to Eureka Director, Mr. Andrew Boyle, stating that the oversight agency approved and certified the ‘GYS 170: 2003’ adopted international standard for the clinic.
