Still no trace of missing Number One Canal teen

UP to late Monday afternoon, there was still no trace of 18-year-old Amanda Rampersaud who mysteriously disappeared from her parents – Naresh and Sally Rampersaudxs home at Number One Canal, West Bank Demerara last Saturday.

-But phone calls received by her parents, ever since the story was broken in the Guyana Chronicle seem to strongly support the theory that a 17-year old girl, who was a guest at the home over the last month, may be linked to the disappearance of Amanda, particularly since she disappeared simultaneously with the other teen.

One caller disclosed having seen the girl in a pharmacy last Thursday, attempting to purchase 25 sleeping tablets. However she was apprehended by the pharmacist who enquired what was she going to do with them. She reportedly informed him that she was caring for two old people who were having trouble sleeping and she wanted to assist them.

However, the pharmacist refused to sell her the tablets and she left the store.

Meanwhile, the missing teenxs mother said that in a telephone call she received from her daughterxs telephone number on Sunday morning, a male informed her that he has her, and that she was okay, but demanded that she pay over the sum of $2M to him in order for her to be released. He promised to call the family back on Sunday night, but never did, the distraught mother said.

On Saturday night, both girls had dinner with the Rampersaud family, bade them good night and left to go to their room, it was the last time they saw them Amandaxs mother, Mrs. Sally Rampersaud said.

Tearful and almost going hysterical at the very thought of the danger to which her child is exposed, the woman is repeating her appeal to anyone having knowledge of her daughterxs whereabouts to make contact with the nearest police station. (Shirley Thomas)
