I wish to respond to two letters which appeared in the Guyana Times: (1) Leonora Primary School — educational or economic institution? (2) Leonora Primary School is far from what people think it is.
Leonora Primary School, ever since its inception, has demonstrated an exceptionally high level of success in various fields of endeavour. Over the years, the school has grown from strength to strength in its achievements. The high level of pupils’ performance can be attributed to the fact that there exists a culture of hard work and commitment which has motivated parents and other stakeholders to be very supportive of the programmes and policies of the school. These are designed to ensure that all pupils have equal opportunities for a well-rounded education.
The success of the school is evident by the support and confidence that stakeholders display and by their willingness to be involved in activities that contribute towards the growth and development of the school, which has always operated within the policy framework of the Ministry of Education.
It was therefore with deep amazement that I perused the virulent contents of two letters published recently in the Guyana Times. The motive of the writer(s) and their vindictive agenda are obviously intended to tarnish the image of the school and to bring discredit to the character of the Headmaster.
While I have no intention in engaging in a verbal battle with person(s) who use this medium to peddle fabrication and spew venom to satisfy their perverted objectives, I take strong objection to the grossly misleading statements made by the writer(s). What credibility can any intelligent person impute based on the wild ramblings of person or persons who choose to remain incognito?
I must say that, while the views expressed are those of the writer(s) and not necessary yours, decency, professional ethics and a quest for truth should have motivated you to first conduct an investigation to determine the veracity of the many vile (and somewhat petty) accusations levelled against the school. I therefore request the relevant authorities to initiate an urgent inquiry into the issues mentioned.
In conclusion, one cannot fail to recognise that there are forces at work that are making calculated attempts to destabilize the administration of the school and to impede its rate of progress. They will never succeed — not now — not ever.
