Press statement by Travis Dowlin

A letter dated March 28, 2009 from the Demerara and Berbice cricket boards addressed to the Secretary of the Guyana Cricket Board, published in the Stabroek News last week and referred to in the article dated Wednesday April 15, 2009 in the Kaieteur News, contains grave, malicious and false allegations against me.

I deny without reservation all the allegations and innuendos contained in the letter.

I have and will always consider it an honour of the highest regard to be selected to represent my country and have consistently done so without fear, prejudice or favour.

I have not, to date, despite my several requests, been provided with any particulars of the alleged reports referred to by the Demerara and Berbice Cricket Boards.

I am unaware that any complaint has been made by any member of any team which I have ever represented.

The letter from the DCB and BCB are part of a sinister and orchestrated plan by certain members of the respective boards to malign my good name and standing, in the hope that their preferred candidates are considered for selection.

I welcome and urge the Guyana Cricket Board to convene an immediate inquiry in the alleged reports of the DCB and BCB.

I have afforded the above boards more than an adequate time since the issuance of their letter to the GCB to provide the details of the alleged reports referred to in their letter.

They have consistently failed to provide any information on the outrageous allegations referred to in the letter.

I have sought professional advice and intend to protect and defend my name against the machinations of some members of the aforementioned boards.
