PRESIDENT Bharrat Jagdeo has sent a message of condolence to his Indonesian counterpart, Mr. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono regarding the Situ Gintung dam burst and flash flood.
The text of the message reads:

“Excellency,
“We were deeply saddened to learn of the precious lives and damage to property caused by the Situ Gintung dam burst.”

“On behalf of the Government and the people of Guyana as well as on my own behalf, I wish to convey our heartfelt condolences to the Government and people of the Republic of Indonesia during this period of national mourning.”

‘Our prayers are with the bereaved families affected by this disaster.”
“Please accept Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration.”
