… heads Group `A’ points standing
UPRISING registered a 2-1 win over Santos as round robin action in the Georgetown Football Association (GFA)/Coca-Cola Under-15 tournament came to an end on Sunday with two matches.
Keason Dey and Deon Alfred scored for Uprising in the third and 20th minutes respectively, while Kevon Leote found the back of Uprising’s net in the 13th minute.
The win for Uprising is their fifth in as many matches of the round robin stage and assures them the top position in Group `A’ as they have accumulated the maximum 15 points.
Despite the loss, Santos placed second in the group with 10 points from three victories, a draw and the loss on Sunday.
On Sunday also, Renaissance and Flamingo played to a 2-2 draw at the Tucville ground, but the referee did not record the names of the goalscorers.
Renaissance ended the round robin stage with eight points, making them third in Group `A’, while Flamingo ended fourth with seven points.
Sunburst Camptown placed fifth with three points, while Beacons, the other team in the group ended pointless.
One Group `B’ match was also scheduled for Sunday at the Camptown ground but Marian Academy failed to make an appearance, thus giving Camptown a walkover victory.
Fruta Conquerors finished at the top of the points standing in Group `B’ with the maximum 15 points.
Thomas United and GFC both finished with 10 points but Thomas United placed second with a better goal difference (plus five) as against GFC (plus one).
Riddim Squad ended fourth with six points while BK International Western Tigers and Marian Academy are both pointless.
In Group `A’, Uprising scored 25 goals and conceded four, Santos recorded 12 goals and conceded three, Renaissance scored 21 goals and conceded 11, Flamingo netted seven goals and conceded nine, Sunburst Camptown scored five goals and conceded 14, Beacons failed to register any but conceded 28.
In Group `B’, Fruta Conquerors scored 18 goals and conceded four, GFC registered eight goals and conceded seven, Riddim Squad recorded seven goals and conceded 12, Western Tigers and Marian Academy failed to score any goals but conceded 10 each.
Uprising Keason Dey and Renaissance’s Selwin Williams are the joint-top goalscorers to date with nine goals each to their names.
Dey’s team-mate Devon Alfred scored six goals to date, while Devon’s sibling scored three goals to date.
Fruta Conquerors’ Pernell Schultz scored five times.
