Court overrules Police objection, grants robbery defendant bail

PETER Waldron, 19, of Lot 219 North East La Penitence, Georgetown, appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle yesterday on two robbery under arms charges.

He pleaded not guilty to the offences, one of which said, on February 17, he robbed, Vidawattie Dinoo, at knifepoint, of one sliver chain valued $8,000 and a $4,000 handbag.

It is also alleged that, the same day, he did similarly to Ameer Karamat, who lost a cell phone worth $25,000 and $4,000 cash.

Police Inspector Denise Griffith, prosecuting, objected to bail for the defendant, on the ground that he is not a first offender but the magistrate overruled the objection and granted him pre-trial freedom, on $100,000 surety and Waldron has to be back in Court April 16.
