Black Bush triple murder: Father reportedly instructed son, 17, to do the killings

AS DETAILS of the confession in the Black Bush Polder triple murder get released, police sources have confirmed that instruction to kill the victims came from the father of the 17-year-old lad who pulled the trigger.Sources have confirmed that Carlton Chetram, 36, called “Lima”, “Lie

man” and “Cashew Boy”, of 36 Mibicuri South, instructed his 17-year-old
son and workers to “get rid of the evidence”. His instructions came after they were recognised by Pawan Chandradeo, 37, called “Suresh” and “Jug Up”; his son Jaikarran Chandradeo, 16, called “Kevin”; and his brother-in-law Naresh Rooplall, 35, called “Teeka Bai” and “Mice”, who were fishing in the area and stumbled upon the men in a rice field belonging to farmer Sudama Jagmohan, called “King”.

According to sources, the quartet of Carlton Chetram, his 17-year-old son Jairam Chetram, and workers Tameshwar Jagmohan, 18, called “Guana”, of 222 Mibicuri South, Black Bush Polder; and Rakesh Karamchand, called “Go to Front”, of Sheet Anchor, East Canje, were in a rice field belonging to “King”, and were stealing diesel fuel when the trio came to the very field to catch “hassar”.

The quartet fired two shots in the air, and the trio ran towards the dam. New details revealed that the men fell to the ground, and “Lie Man” told the party to “get rid of the evidence (witnesses)”.

The shooter, believed to be his 17-year-old son, moved over to the men and shot them each once at point blank range, killing them on the spot.
The gun he used was believed to belong to his father. Post-mortem examinations have revealed that the men were all killed as a result of gunshot wounds.

When the bodies were discovered on the next day by “King” and his workers, the men still had their fishing gear on them. Rooplall had a cast net hung over his shoulder, his nephew had a bag with fish hung around his neck, while Chandradeo had his cast net in his hand. Fish, body parts and blood littered the scene.

The confession of the crime came approximately one week after the crime had been committed, and after ‘B’ Division officers and other top ranks got new details about the suspects and detained them. The men were taken to the city, where they were questioned by ranks of the Major Crime Unit. On Thursday last, the men were taken to the crime scene, where they gave a detailed account of the events on the night of the murder.

Meanwhile, the search continues for the fourth suspect, Rakesh
Karamchand, who is still in hiding.

“Lie man” has had several brushes with the law, including a murder charge in 2013.
