Roraima Airways has received yet another business award, the Guyanese American Chamber of Commerce (GACC) Award for dedication in the areas of Tourism and Aviation.
A release from Roraima Airways noted that the Guyanese American Chamber of Commerce held its inaugural Awards Gala in Florida on Saturday December 10, 2016 at the Bonaventure Resort in Florida where the presentation was made. The award was handed over by the Vice President of the Caribbean Central America Action, Ms. Jennifer Nugent Hill to Roraima’s CEO, Captain Gerald Gouveia.
According to the release, on accepting the Award, Capt. Gouveia thanked the Guyanese American Chamber of Commerce for recognizing his company’s continued dedication and contribution to Guyana’ tourism and aviation industry since 1992, and stated that for the 24 years of his company’s existence, he believes that the company has not yet reached its full potential.
He reiterated that despite its recent partnership with Easy Sky out of Honduras to increase Shopping Tourism in Guyana and two additional Aircraft this year, the company is now taxiing on the runway for take-off.
“We want to increase our employment of Guyanese by 200 percent of our already 260 employees and that will mean we need to expand Roraima Airways to thrice its size. We are investing more in the aviation sector with the aim of meeting the current and projected demands of passengers and cargo capacity. Guyana is expanding and we are ready to grow with it. We will do it!”
The Guyanese American Chamber of Commerce Award comes on the heels of two prestigious awards in 2016. Last June, the Tourism and Hospitality Association of Guyana (THAG) award Roraima’s Arrowpoint Nature Resort as the Resort of the year and in November; the Guyana Tourism Authority bestowed the Tourism Entrepreneur of the year Award to Gouveia. Captain Gouveia is also a recipient of one of Guyana’s highest National Awards, the Golden Arrowhead of Achievement.
