Schools identified for four more IT centres

In Region Two…
CHAIRMAN of Region Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam), Mr. Alli Baksh has announced that, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, the Regional Administration will establish four more centres, at selected schools on the Essequibo Coast, to boost the teaching of information technology (IT).

He said those identified are Suddie, Charity and Good Hope Primary Schools and Anna Regina Secondary School.

According to Baksh, the establishments will cost the Government $14M.

Noting that Government is spending the largest part of the National Budget on education, he said, over the past 15 years, students in Region Two have excelled and done well at every examination.

He attested that the massive investments is paying off because Region Two students have topped the country several times at Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC), General Certificate of Education (GCE) and National Grade Six Assessments (NGSA) and many of them are studying in Cuba on Government scholarships.
