On Christmas Day…
– distributes gifts to children of Sophia, GPHC pediatric ward
GUYANESE Head of State President Bharrat Jagdeo, on Friday last (Christmas Day), reprised his role as Santa Claus when he distributed Christmas presents to the children of Sophia, Greater Georgetown, where he was thronged by the large number of children who were up early and eagerly awaiting their Christmas gifts, and later at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) pediatric ward.
During the visit to the GPHC, the President was accompanied by Public Service Minister, Dr. Jennifer Westford, and Permanent Secretary in the Office of the President, Dr. Nanda Gopaul.
After his visit to the GPHC, the President stated that while it has become a tradition for him to distribute gifts on Christmas morning to less fortunate children, it is still difficult to see children suffering.
“It has been very difficult to come to this Children’s Ward here. Seeing all the kids in pain on this very special day is not an easy thing,” the President said.
“I hope that whilst we all enjoy ourselves today, and this is my sincere hope that all of Guyana would really enjoy the festive season and people seem to be doing this, that we also spare some thoughts for those who are less fortunate,” the President further added.
