FRESH off successfully hosting the historic Berbice Drag Racing Invasion last weekend, the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club will carry the momentum into the Clash of Champions circuit racing event.

Registration for the October 31 to November 1 event, set for the South Dakota Circuit, began yesterday at the club’s Thomaslands and Albert Street office.

GMR&SC President, Mohamed Shiraz Roshandin, said, “We have begun registering our competitors for the Clash of Champions Circuit Race event. At the moment, we are doing it in person, and online.”

“We want to keep the momentum from the final half of the year we had coming off two successful events, both the opening round of the National Championships as well as the Berbice Invasion drag race event. Now we are moving into our marquee event.”

According to Roshandin, the club expects competitors from across the Caribbean, as well as the United States and the United Kingdom as well as Europe.

“So far, we are about two weeks out and we have already confirmed participation from the Caribbean American Motorsports (CAMS) as well as several Caribbean countries for both the group four and three as well as some serious competition in group two,” Roshandin added.

The final event will bring together competitors across the circuit racing disciplines, with cars and motorcycles expected to headline a day of high-speed action at the Timehri-based venue.

Admission is set at G$5,000 for adults and G$2,000 for children, with the event being supported by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, One Guyana, ENet, KFC, GuyOil and Tropical shipping, among other partners.
