NATIONAL cricketer and SVC/AJM CC skipper Kemol Savory has issued a rousing rallying to his home fans, calling on Essequibo natives to flood the Anna Regina National Stadium in their numbers for the grand national finals of the Lotto/Let’sBet One Guyana T10 Tapeball Blast on Sunday, October 11.
Savory, fondly dubbed the ‘Prince of Essequibo’, earned his side a place in the final four after captaining SVC/AJM CC to a thrilling victory over Avinash All-Stars in the Georgetown/East Coast Demerara Zone final.
While he naturally craves vocal backing for his own squad as they chase national honours, Savoury emphasised that the ultimate goal is to deliver an unmissable spectacle for the local faithful regardless of who they support.
“I’m calling on all Essequibians to come out in their numbers,” Savory said ahead of Sunday’s action.
“Naturally, we’d love the home crowd behind SVC/AJM CC, but every team coming to Anna Regina is packed with quality and ready to put on a show for the fans. It’s going to be a grand day of tapeball, so bring the energy and let’s fill up the stadium.”
The carnival atmosphere at Anna Regina will come with serious cash on the line. Beyond regional bragging rights, an additional winner’s purse of $2 million is up for grabs, with the runners-up pocketing $1 million and both losing semi-finalists taking home $500,000 each.
The action-packed day begins at 14:30hrs local time when GrillMaster Sip N Play All-Stars lock horns with Mahdia (Movements Family) in the opening semi-final. Savory’s SVC/AJM CC will then take centre stage at 16:30hrs against Lusignan Bulls DTP II for a place in the showpiece event.
Adding to the day’s drama, a fast-paced six-over women’s exhibition match between Tapakuma (Elite Warriors) and Capoey United will light up the venue at 18:30hrs, setting the stage for the grand final under lights at 19:30hrs.
Organisers have confirmed free admission for all spectators, though they will enforce a strict no-cooler policy at the gates.
The tournament’s Most Valuable Player will drive away on a brand-new motorbike in addition to a $150,000 cash prize. Substantial windfalls also await the leading run-scorer and top wicket-taker, who will each receive $100,000 and a television set.
Match-winning impact will be similarly recognised: the Player of the Final will earn $75,000, while the players finishing with the Super Strike Rate and Best Economy Rate (minimum 12 balls bowled or faced) will each pocket $50,000.
