WEST Indies all-rounder Kevin Sinclair says he is determined to “earn my way back” into top-flight cricket after entering a formal reintegration programme following more than two years on the sidelines.
The 26-year-old off-spinner was removed from the Guyana Harpy Eagles squad and stripped of his central contract in 2024 following a string of disciplinary concerns.
Tensions mounted in April when Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) chairman of selectors Ramnaresh Sarwan and captain Tevin Imlach publicly outlined Sinclair’s infractions, which included walking off the field during a match at the Everest Cricket Club.
While Sinclair previously highlighted severe personal grief—including the death of his brother—and medical issues surrounding those incidents, his focus has now shifted entirely to personal reform and accountability.
The Guyanese cricketer revealed he has completed a structured therapy course with clinical practitioner Dr Wil Campbell, who has now endorsed his readiness to resume his professional career.
“Cricket is the profession through which I supported myself and my family,” Sinclair said in a public statement.
“Suddenly finding myself on the sidelines forced me to confront many things about myself, my decisions and my future. I take accountability for the areas in which I fell short.”
Sinclair thanked the GCB for establishing a formal pathway back into the setup, admitting that regaining the confidence of teammates and selectors will require sustained effort.
“I am not asking for anything to be handed to me,” Sinclair added. “I am simply asking for an opportunity to earn my way back.
“Growth must be demonstrated through my actions, discipline, consistency and accountability. Trust must be rebuilt, opportunities must be earned, and standards must be met.”
Sinclair, who has represented the West Indies across all three international formats, maintains that his primary ambition remains wearing the maroon once again.
“The dream of once again putting myself in a position to represent my country—and hopefully earn another opportunity at the West Indies level—remains very much alive,” he said. “I am ready to work, I am ready to prove myself, and I am ready to earn another opportunity.”
