GUYANA produced a ruthless attacking display to sweep aside Dominica 8-1 in Mayagüez, maintaining their perfect start to the Concacaf Nations League and remaining firmly at the top of League B, Group A.
The Golden Jaguars dominated from the outset at the Estadio Centroamericano, taking the lead after just five minutes when Omari Glasgow collected a threaded pass down the left channel before finishing cleanly with his left foot.
Torquay United forward Deon Moore and captain Elliot Bonds both struck from close range to extend the lead, before Glasgow completed his brace on a swift counter-attack to send Guyana into the break with a commanding 4-0 advantage.
There was no let-up after the restart as Slingerz FC midfielder Curtez Kellman buried a spectacular long-range effort into the top-right corner, before Moore headed home his second of the afternoon.
Dominica briefly halted the onslaught through Reon Cuffy’s extraordinary strike from near the halfway line, but Guyana responded instantly as Enoch George turned in a seventh before Bonds sealed his own brace with a thunderous rocket from distance.
The result leaves Guyana with a maximum of 12 points from four matches as they push for promotion to League A.
In a statement confirming the team’s top position, the Guyana Football Federation praised the squad’s momentum and set its sights on the next stage.
“With the team firmly in control of Group A, the Golden Jaguars now enter the next stage of the campaign with renewed confidence and a clear objective: to finish the Nations League campaign strongly and secure Guyana’s place in the Gold Cup,” the federation stated.
Elsewhere in Group A, Puerto Rico secured a vital victory against the Cayman Islands to stay in mathematical contention.
Puerto Rico and the Cayman Islands will both face Guyana in the concluding international window in November, where the Golden Jaguars will look to seal their place in the 2027 Concacaf Gold Cup.
