MIAMI-BASED investigative researcher and anti-corruption author, Thomas Anderson, has alleged that allies of businessman Azruddin Mohamed are waging a campaign aimed at undermining Aubrey Norton and the PNC/APNU in an effort to influence the perception of Guyana’s political landscape among United States policymakers.
Anderson made this known in a recent video during which he indicated that the campaign is intended to persuade officials within the Trump administration that the PNC/APNU is politically insignificant, while presenting Mohamed and the WIN Party as the only viable alternative.
“They’re running the campaign on Aubrey Norton and the PNC and the APNU because they’re hoping to continue to trick the powers that be here in the United States, the people within the Trump administration,” Anderson said.
According to Anderson, those behind the alleged campaign are seeking to portray the PNC and APNU as “illegitimate” and as having little political relevance.
He also accused Mohamed’s supporters of repeatedly attacking Norton over allegations concerning his personal conduct, including claims about his consumption of alcohol.
“They continually attack Aubrey Norton,” Anderson said, questioning the basis for such criticism when compared with the allegations and controversies surrounding Mohamed.
Anderson described the alleged attacks as hypocritical and said they formed part of a wider effort to shape the view of US officials regarding the available political alternatives in Guyana.
“These people are the ultimate hypocrites,” he said.
Anderson further alleged that the objective was to convince US authorities that “there isn’t any other option outside of Mohamed and the WIN Party.”
“That’s a lie,” he asserted, maintaining that the PNC/APNU remains a political alternative.
