–as President Ali engages Bipartisan Congressional Delegation

PRESIDENT Dr Irfaan Ali met on Tuesday with a bipartisan United States congressional delegation led by Senator Christopher Coons, which arrived in Georgetown as part of a Western Hemisphere mission aimed at deepening ties between the two nations.
The discussions centred on strengthening the Guyana-US partnership and advancing shared interests in prosperity, security and regional stability, the President said following the meeting.
President Ali used the engagement to outline his government’s transformation agenda since taking office in 2020, pointing to sustained investment in infrastructure and development, food and energy security, health care, education and agriculture.

The President also reaffirmed Guyana’s commitment to working closely with the United States to combat drug trafficking and transnational organised crime, strengthen security cooperation, and uphold respect for territorial sovereignty, reflecting the growing depth of collaboration between the two countries on regional security.
The visit is the latest in a series of high-level exchanges between Georgetown and Washington, underscoring the United States’ continued interest in Guyana as a key partner in the Western Hemisphere.
