MINISTER of Public Utilities and Aviation, Deodat Indar, on Friday afternoon, convened a meeting with domestic airline operators to discuss key issues affecting the sector and to identify practical solutions aimed at strengthening Guyana’s aviation services.
According to information from the ministry’s Facebook page, the engagement brought together representatives from Air Services Limited, Roraima Airways, Trans Guyana Airways and Ogle Airport Inc., alongside Director General of the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), Lt. Col. (Ret’d) Egbert Field, A.A. Ministry Director General Alfonso De Armas joined the discussion virtually.
Talks centred on a range of pressing concerns facing domestic carriers, including fuel and operating costs, aircraft engine overhaul expenses and delays, and ongoing airport maintenance and upgrade works.
Particular attention was given to minimising disruptions to passengers and tourists while critical infrastructural works are carried out at the nation’s airports.
Minister Indar called for the development of a collaborative work plan between operators and aviation authorities to address the issues raised and to strengthen coordination across the domestic aviation sector going forward.
The ministry has indicated that a follow-up engagement with the relevant airport authorities will be scheduled to advance the matters discussed during the meeting.
The consultation reflects continued efforts by the Ministry of Public Utilities and Aviation to work closely with industry stakeholders in support of a safe, efficient and reliable domestic aviation network for Guyana.
