Two Venezuelan women charged with grievous bodily harm, granted bail

TWO Venezuelan nationals have been charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm following an incident involving a woman in Bartica and were each granted $75,000 bail when they appeared at the Bartica Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
The accused have been identified as 20-year-old self-employed Beilyn Hernandes and 21-year-old saleswoman Benyerlin Hernandes, both of Third Avenue, Bartica.
The women were charged under Section 50 of the Criminal Law (Offences) Act, Chapter 8:01, in connection with an incident involving Yillen Romero.
Police arrested the two women on Sunday, August 9, 2026, and they were formally charged on Tuesday.
They appeared before Magistrate Caressa Henry, where the charge was read to them. Both defendants pleaded not guilty.
The court subsequently granted each woman bail in the sum of $75,000.
The matter was adjourned to September 8, 2026, for continuation.
