Bartica businesswoman charged with unlawful wounding

– granted $75,000 bail

A 37-year-old Venezuelan businesswoman from Bartica was granted $75,000 bail after appearing before the Bartica Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday on a charge of unlawful wounding.
The accused, Yillen Romero of Third Avenue, Bartica, was charged under Section 30(a) of the Summary Jurisdiction (Offences) Act, Chapter 8:02, in connection with an incident involving one Beilyn Hernandes.
Romero was arrested on Sunday, August 9, 2026, and formally charged on Monday, August 10.
She appeared before Magistrate Caressa Henry at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, August 11, where the charge was read to her.
Romero pleaded not guilty.
The court subsequently granted her bail in the sum of $75,000.
The matter was adjourned to September 8, 2026, for continuation.
