POLICE are investigating the alleged murder of a 23-year-old joiner who was fatally stabbed during an altercation with a group of males at Good Hope, East Coast Demerara, early Monday morning.
The dead man has been identified as Navin Jangbir, called “Buddy”, of Phase One, Good Hope. The incident occurred at about 12:45 a.m. on August 10, 2026, in the vicinity of his residence.
According to preliminary police investigations, Jangbir was in the area of his home when an altercation erupted between him and a group of males.
During the confrontation, Jangbir reportedly sustained a stab wound to the left side of his abdomen. He subsequently collapsed in the vicinity of his residence.
Emergency Medical Technicians responded to the scene, where Jangbir was later pronounced dead by a doctor on duty from the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation.
His body was subsequently escorted to Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination.
Police said closed-circuit television cameras were observed in the area and footage is currently being examined as investigators work to establish the circumstances surrounding the killing and identify those responsible.
No arrests have been made up to Tuesday, and investigations remain ongoing.
