GUYANA’S Golden Jaguars have learned their pathway for the 2026/27 Concacaf Nations League following the official tournament draw and schedule release by the regional governing body in Miami, Florida.
The national senior men’s football team has been drawn into Group ‘A’ of League ‘B’, where they will battle Puerto Rico, Dominica, and the Cayman Islands for a shot at promotion and qualification for the 2027 Concacaf Gold Cup.
Guyana’s campaign begins in the late September FIFA match window with an opening fixture against Puerto Rico on Thursday, September 24.
Three days later, on Sunday, September 27, the Golden Jaguars return to the pitch for their second match of the window when they encounter the Cayman Islands.
The momentum carries straight into the October window, which will feature a double-header against Dominica. Guyana will play Dominica in their first matchup on Thursday, October 1, before meeting them again in the return clash on Sunday, October 4.
To minimise travel demands and maintain high competitive standards across member associations, Concacaf will continue using centralised venues for League ‘B’ group stage matches during the September, October, and November windows.
Hosting rights for the September and October matches are assigned on the basis of group rankings, while the highest-ranked team in Group ‘A’ will earn host status for the final group stage window in November.
The stakes remain high for the Golden Jaguars throughout the campaign.
Finishing top of Group ‘A’ guarantees direct promotion to League ‘A’ for the next edition of the tournament, secures a spot in the newly established League ‘B’ Championship final round in March 2027, and serves as the primary gateway to qualify for the 2027 Concacaf Gold Cup.
Conversely, a bottom-place finish in the group would result in relegation to League ‘C’.
